Item Description
21.75x27-7/8" frame contains artboard w/pen and ink original art that has been double-matted to 16.25x21.75". Art is for Jan. 7, 1940 and features 10 panels (including art in hand-lettered title panel). Story deals w/Uncle Elby hearing story about St. Bernards saving lost and freezing travelers, to which Uncle Elby replies Napoleon is too dumb to do that. Napoleon looks hurt and is then challenged to find Uncle Elby, who hides in the snow. Initially bringing Uncle Elby a sandwich and thermos of soup, only to see woman preparing to take basket meal to women's club committee dinner. Napoleon steals the basket and takes it to Uncle Elby, only for Uncle Elby to be found out by the woman, who accusing him of training Napoleon to steal food, proceeding to hit him w/her umbrella. Creator Clifford McBride signature in title panel. Second to last panel is also signed. Exc. Well drawn and funny.
