Item Description
Original box (w/replacement photocopy lid) contains 19.5" tall doll "Sold Under License Of Bob Smith, Creator Of Howdy Doody." Effanbee, c. 1948-1951. Box end has 3.5x6" full-color paper label picturing Howdy within Effanbee heart symbol and "America's Favorite Cowboy" text. This has original packaging ink stamps "641" and "Blue" notations. Box shows moderate edge/corner tip wear w/1" corner split to box bottom. VG. Doll comes nicely detailed w/"Howdy Doody" neckerchief, fabric outfit, leatherette belt w/metal buckle and suede-like cowboy boots w/leatherette trim on fabric feet. Painted composition head and hands w/less than typically seen crazing to face. Doll has sleep eyes that function perfectly. Scattered lt. paint wear to head w/some tiny paint flakes to teeth which blend somewhat. Faint even aging to pants. Fine/VF.
