Item Description
1876. 18x25.5". Three documents pasted together front/back. Reverse has two Belgium documents one appointing Charles Henrotin as a Consul for Belgium to the Chicago Consulate. Front document has heading "Ulysses S. Grant President Of The United States" and acknowledges Henrotin as the "Consul Of Belgium At Chicago" and is signed boldly in black fountain pen ink "U. S. Grant" at lower right. Edge and corner losses, horizontal margin tears and wrinkles in paper. Just Good. American document retains presidential seal. Henrotin served for nearly 50 years and was the principal founder of the Chicago Stock Exchange. Rare documents worthy of attention by a professional paper conservator. Comes w/Hake's COA & JSA LOA.
