Item Description
This is similar to item #448 and like that button Wanamaker's went the extra mile and produced this in the uncommon 1.5" size as a give-away for Christmas probably c. 1911-12.  The button has its Bastian back paper and front shows Santa in a toy laden very primitive bi-wing airplane superimposed over their famous headquarters at Juniper and Market Streets. We've dubbed this the "Style B" design and it is much more elaborate than Style A as it includes two flags on poles, two small structures with roofs and three skylights. There are other small design details that differ on the two buttons. Button surface is covered in small and light hairline scratches all but invisible to the naked eye. The red color of "A Merry Christmas" text is very slightly faded. Button still displays NM and this is the scarcer of the two styles.
