Item Description
Lot of three 1940s ashtrays, each featuring anti-Axis images of Hitler. 4.5x4.5" reverse-painted glass ashtray was issued by Farmers Lumber Co. of Bricelyn, MN and features cartoon of Hitler being hung w/"We Will Furnish The Lumber To Help Hang Hitler" text. Reverse-painted area has some scattered 1/8" paint flakes, but all text and image remains complete. Fine/VF. 5x5.25" ceramic ashtray has risque image of sea captain in bathtub w/nude woman, w/"And This Is How The Torpedo Works, Miss Fothergill" text. Hitler's head is seen emerging from toilet, further promoting the "Careless Talk Costs Lives" text at top. Tiny firing imperfection at center right as made, o/w Exc. 4.5" dia. ceramic ashtray has Crown Devon mark on underside and features caricature portrait of Hitler at center of spiderweb w/rim text reading "Caught In The Allies Web - Drop Your Ashes On Old 'Nasty'" as spider creeps towards Hitler. Exc. Rare variety, first we've offered in our 52 years.
