Item Description
1.5" dia. w/near exact likeness of "MAD" Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman w/"Superior - 1941" text, referring to Superior Products, producers of punchboards and other games of chance. Superior used this Neuman doppelgänger as their mascot, even using Neuman's familiar catchphrase (years before the character appeared in the popular humor magazine). Button has no backpaper as issued and no maker's name. One of only three examples we've seen in our 52 years. This example came from the Ted Hake/ Edward Potter Collection. Tiniest wear traces under magnification including microscopic pinpoint pair of white dots on his nose mentioned only for total accuracy as w/o magnification they are for practical purposes invisible. Centering of the design is close to perfect and the piece displays Mint w/high gloss. Rare.
