Item Description
22x28" on thick board. Advertises a concert March 15 at Canterbury House w/opening act James Cotton Blues Band. Signed in print at lower right "Artwork By Allan Reid." Reid's stylized image of Joplin is based on the iconic Bob Seidemann photograph, here w/added arms and hands to balance the arching headline text. Left of Joplin is a city scene including a "Bar" and at right is an elongated set of stairs. Corner wear and scattered light brown spots of toning most notably at top right that do not interfere w/the intently colored design. VF. Reid only produced 100 of these hand pulled silk screen prints and almost all were distributed for display around the University of Michigan campus. We are aware of less than 10 surviving examples in any condition. A rare opportunity to obtain an investment grade artifact featuring one of the most iconic performers of the 1960s cultural revolution.
