Item Description
10.5x12.5" sheet of animation paper has nicely detailed concept original art done in black ink and marker by Maurice Noble (1911-2001), who handled production design and art direction for "The Cat In The Hat" TV special which debuted March 3, 1971. This was one of five animated TV specials starring Dr. Seuss's beloved feline character. Image area measures 7.75x11" and features full body image of the Cat in the Hat posing in women's heeled shoes, lipstick and w/a long striped fabric train draped over his trademark striped top hat. The train continues on the floor, held up in part by Thing 1 (who wraps material around its head) and Thing 2 (whose head is covered by material). Noble has signed in black felt tip pen below art. Top margin has two thing strips of tape, o/w art is bright, clean and Exc. One of the most interesting pieces of Noble's Seuss art we've seen.
