Item Description
Lot of 15 pieces comprise complete basic set of 10 painted plaster statues, measuring between 1" and 4.5" tall, paint palette for use in painting said statues as well as two advertising sheets. Made by GEM Clay Forming Company for distribution by both sponsors of the Tarzan radio show and others in 1932. Set includes Tarzan w/Cheetah (this is first version w/o name on base), Kala holding baby Tarzan, Jane Porter, Numa the Lion, Sheeta the Panther, Witch Doctor, Pirate w/treasure chest, Lt. D'Arnot, Cannibal Warrior and Monkey Trio (which were counted as a single item and shipped in same box). All have nice vintage paint jobs by original owner and are among the nicest such examples we have ever offered. VF-Exc. overall. Statues come w/3x4-7/8" die-cut card palette w/six pads of paint attached. These show expected wear as used and palette is Fine overall. Scarce. 9.5x9.5" two-sided order form features images of the painted statues and well as a color guide on side w/information about issuer beverage Toddy. 9.5x11.5" single-sided sheet includes image of Tarzan statue w/color guide and images of issuer Fould's pasta products. Both sheets are folded as issued (Fould's has aged tape along fold lines) and show scattered wear. VG to Fine overall. See premium bkg. and order form, following item.
