Item Description
We've never seen another example of this ring w/such deep golden metallic luster. In the production of this ring, it received an extra heavy degree of luster plating, still beautifully preserved by a generous amount of the clear lacquer-like top coat all these rings were given to help preserve their appearance. This is a very special example of the ring issued as a Cream of Wheat and newspaper premium in 1936. Additionally, we have just discovered and confirmed w/three advanced ring collectors that two versions of this ring exist. This example has "Made In U.S.A." text under ring's top, indicating it was distributed in Canada. The other version is blank under the ring's top and was issued within the US. Other mid-1930s rings such as those issued for The Spider and Operator 5 were also designated "Made In U.S.A." if they were to be used as premiums in Canada. This Canadian version is much scarcer than the US version, which is itself scarce. Referred to as both the "Repeller Ray Ring" and the "Supreme Inner Circle Ring" within the Buck Rogers Club membership literature. Side panels each have tiny star accent w/small "Buck Rogers - Solar Scouts" text. Top depicts Buck Rogers in his rocketship w/raised arm holding a rocket pistol. He is surrounded by five tiny star accents w/partial image of cratered moon at right w/rays emanating from it. Center of rocketship has beautiful emerald green inset faceted stone. An outstanding example w/just a small dot of luster off the edge of one of the lower narrow prongs. The depth of the luster and clear-coat make this a unique example of a classic premium ring. NM and the nicest example we have ever seen. Rare in this high grade condition.
