Item Description
Pair of 54x56" glazed fabric kites w/brass grommets and original string riggings. 1940s. Used for anti-aircraft target practice. Both have plane silhouettes; one has "U.S. Navy Target Kite Mark 1" showing Japanese warplane while other has more extensive text reading "Target Kite Mark 1 - U.S. Navy 3-C-29 - U.S. Army M-9" as well as A.G. Spalding & Bros. Inc. maker's name. This kite shows German warplane. Both have moderate aging and show expected wear from outdoor use. Scattered staining. VG/Fine overall.
