Item Description
Lot of ten approx. 7.25x8-7/8" to 7.25x9.75" artboards featuring pen and ink original art by Irving Tripp (1921-2009), a comic book artist best-known as the illustrator of "Little Lulu" comics. Lot includes original art for cover w/attached vellum title overlay which has "Little Lulu" hand-painted text. Additional paste-over w/"Coloring Book" text has been mounted in appropriate place on cover art. Coloring book was published by Whitman, ©1955 Marjorie Henderson Buell. All but one page features Little Lulu, and Tubby is seen on six pages. Other characters shown include - Annie and Iggy Inch, Alvin James and Gloria Darling. Cover art has thin strip of aged masking tape along top edge of vellum, which has three strips of aged tape/tape residue. Cover art and pages have also had red paint borders added and cover and each page has white correctional fluid touch-ups. Top corners of each artboard have been clipped and backs have some faint glue staining as once mounted. Artboards are VF w/Exc. art. Nice collection of Tripp original art.
