Item Description
24x36.5 First Trade Printing poster features lavishly illustrated map based on J.R.R. Tolkien's cartography of Middle-Earth as drawn and embellished by Pauline Baynes. ©1970 George Allen & Unwin Ltd. Based on the map of Middle-Earth first published in 1954, this new map was a collaboration between Baynes and Tolkien, who corrected a few errors on the original map, and supplied some additional place names. Top margin features illustrations of the Fellowship of the Ring while bottom features the forces of darkness. 50 copies were printed on cartridge paper w/"Privately Printed By George Allen & Unwin" added at bottom. Further copies were printed for the trade as noted by the example offered here. Rolled and Exc. w/just some lt. handling wear.
