Item Description
11x17" stiff paper folder titled "Open Up! For The Nation's Number One Laugh Bird!" issued to promote the 1951 debut of the "Woody Woodpecker" daily strip. Consolidated News Features, Inc. Folder opens twice to full size of 17x33" and reprints 18 daily strips and features various images of Woody along w/Wally Walrus and Buzz Buzzard. Back cover has half-page "Promotion Advertising And Special Illustrations Supplied In Complete Mat Form" section showing different newspaper ads to promote the strip. Horizontal fold at center as issued, but o/w Exc. Limited distribution, mainly sent to newspaper editors. Great design. Rare and first we've offered in our 52 years. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
