Item Description
Large 2.25" dia. cello button features classic full body image of Mickey Mouse waving a greeting w/one hand. Small text below him reads "Copy. 1928-1930 By W.E. Disney." The earliest movie theater clubs elected an officer slate headed by children dubbed "Chief Mickey Mouse" and "Chief Minnie Mouse." Buttons were produced for these and a few other offices such as this "Courier." All are quite rare as only one was produced per officer for the very limited number of mostly West Coast theaters that sponsored a Mickey Mouse Club in 1930. We have seen "Courier" buttons in two different varieties, this example has slightly smaller Mickey image facing left, depicting him w/raised hand and the other hand by his side. The other variety shows slightly larger Mickey image facing right and depicts him waving w/his other hand on his hip. Comes w/aged Western Badge & Button Co. backpaper. Button shows just minor wear, which is only visible in reflected light. Totally bright and glossy w/strong color. Exc. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Disney Collectibles" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
