Item Description
"Inner Sanctum" (aka "Inner Sanctum Mystery") was a popular mystery/thrilled radio program that aired Jan. 7, 1941 to Oct. 5, 1952 and was created by producer Himan Brown based on the imprint given to the mystery novels of Simon & Schuster. A total of 526 episodes were broadcast, featuring such horror personalities as Boris Karloff, Bela Lugosi, Peter Lorre, Claude Rains and others. Offered here is 3.5x5.5" postcard w/eerie image of Grim Reaper peering around cracked door and CBS promotional text. Back has additional promotional text about the program, implying that the ghoul on the front of the card is in fact the show's host Raymond (Raymond Edward Johnson). Text also mentions show sponsor Palmolive Shave Cream. Back has Oct. 8, 1943 postmark and typed recipient name/address. See following lot and matching "The Adventures Of The Thin Man" postcard, item #1928. Card has lt. even aging and minor corner tip wear w/some handling creases at one corner and a few tiny spots on front. VF overall. Very rare and first we've offered in our 52 years. This is the actual example shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
