Item Description
This item and a handful of additional lead proofs and prototype badges (see following items, #1344-1345) came into the premium hobby in the late 1970s via a man who worked for Robbins Co. of Attleboro, MA, famed for producing various premiums. Offered here is a 3/16" thick piece of lead, measuring 1.5x2.75". It came from the Robbins factory and was produced by striking the die on a lead sheet so the design could be seen as flawless before production began on the Ralston premium "Straight Shooter" badge offered in 1937. The back of the piece has a hand scratched production number "M5585." The front of the piece has raised image in lead of the badge. One-of-a-kind. Comes w/2" tall production example of the badge. This is brass luster version. NM and as nice as these come. Both are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
