Item Description
6.5x9.5" complete album w/cardboard cover and 28 pages. Issued in 1940 by Barcelona based publisher "Editorial Bruguera." Cover marked "Album Segundo" indicating second series. Contains complete set of 156 paper picture cards w/full color art, all mounted at appropriate spots. Album starts off with Soccer Stars numbered 85-156. Each is 1.75x2.25 (as are others unless o/w noted) w/bio text below. Next are History Of Cinema Cartoons numbered 1-12. Includes comic character image w/inset portrait of creator. Featured are Walt Disney/Mickey, Minnie, Donald & Pluto; Fleischer/Betty Boop, Segar/Popeye, Olive Oyl, Bluto; and others. Next are World Famous Sportsmen in oversize format of 3.5x4.75, numbered 1-12. The highlight (and only baseball player) is Babe Ruth. Other athletes include boxers Schmeling, Carnera, Joe Louis & Max Baer. Album ends with Flags Of The Universe, numbered 1-60. Moderate cover wear/aging. Fine. Pages are Fine. Cards have wear and aging as mounted but overall still display VG to EX w/great color and content. An obscure and rare album, especially complete. First we've offered in our 52 years.
