Item Description
Single-sided 11x14.75" paper poster features striking graphics of sailor's arm applying pliers to neck of Tojo, who appears as an octopus w/its tentacles stretching from Japan. Poster was issued after V-E Day as art depicts Hitler and Mussolini as dead rats, nailed up by their tails at bottom corners. Art was by P.D. Wemer of the US Navel Reserves and poster dates to May 1945 as it is marked "AFAF-2-1132-5-28-45-1500" at lower left. Lower right margin has .5" tear. Horizontal fold at center w/scattered aging/handling wear. Fine overall. First we've seen in our 52 years.
