Item Description
First is a paper sheet 22 x 17", printed both sides and folded to 11 x17". This is from October, 1986. Front shows anti-war activist Brian Willson and three other Vietnam Vets in the midst of a water only fast which lasted from Sept. 1 to Oct. 17 on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to protest U.S. polices in Central America. Center is poster-like reprint of a "Valley News" newspaper page dated Sept. 30, 1986. Willson is pictured three times, once with Sen. John Kerry. Reverse sheet is article on Willson's girlfriend Georgine Forbes and her artwork related to the struggle in Nicaragua. NM. Next from the following two years are a pair of Badge-A-Minit buttons both hand colored and one a Levin Collection Master hand notated on reverse "Calif 1988". This button was issued for protest at the "Concord Naval Weapons Station-1987" It includes "Brian Willson Sept 1, 1987". That was the day Willson and members of a Veterans Peace Action Team blocked railroad tracks but the approaching train did not stop and struck the men with Willson eventually losing both legs below the knee. The second button has much the same design and some text the same as the first but this refers to "Nuremberg Actions/Peace Vigil/One Year Anniversary/June 10, 1988". NM. All are rare.  From the Marshall Levin Collection. Comes with Hake's COA.
