Item Description
On July 17, 1938, Corrigan left New York supposedly flying home to California but the next day the world was shocked, and amused, when he claimed a navigation error took  him to Dublin, Ireland. His homecoming NYC ticker tape parade crowd actually exceeded Lindbergh's. The ten celluloid buttons, all from 1938, are 1.25 to 2.5". Four in Row 1 are first seen with center two being real photos. Three in Row 2 are scarce. Three in Row 3 are the standards. Next is replica brass pin of his plane, first seen, with ID number on tail, glossy 3x4" photo ink signed "Earl Joseph 'Wrong Way'/Douglas Corrigan", 5.5" Milwaukee Reception ribbon and 5.5" San Francisco reception ribbon with many right hand side fabric stresses and splits. Still good with other previous items Exc. to NM. Last four items are: Liberty magazine 11/5/1938 (Fine), sheet music signed and dated by the composer "Harry Vernon 11/27/38 (6 pages/Fine), 8x10 press photo promoting upcoming RKO production of his life story (VF) and a 9x11" stiff cardboard sign ("Poster No. 2 Finnell Sales Service) with Corrigan quotation and Air Lines restrictions on drinking alcohol pre-flight (NM). Many rarely seen pieces. Mike Nichols Collection.
