Item Description
Lot of five, all 1940s. 5/8x7/8" die-cut enameled brass stud features Disney PT boat "Mosquito Fleet" insignia and was made for workers at Elco in Bayonne, NJ, the largest makers of PT boats during World War II. A feature on Disney-designed military insignia in a May 1941 issue of "Life" noted that this was the first design Disney created. NM. 2.5x4-1/8" and 3x5" cardstock cards are for destroyer tender USS Piedmont, which was designed to service nearby Navy destroyers and keep them fit for duty; hence why both feature same image of Doc from "Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs" working on ship. One is student bus pass while other is an example card for files, w/"Die No. 262" notation. Both are Exc. 3.5x3.5" decal features bees Scoopy and Gaby, designed in 1943 as the mascots for the McClatchy newspapers and radio stations in California (whose newspapers were named "The Bee"). 3.75x3-7/8" decal pictures insignia for West Coast Shipyard Workers, created by Disney artist Hank Porter. "S.C.R.A.M." is an acronym for Ship Construction Repair and Maintenance. Both are evenly aged but o/w NM. All are scarce.
