Item Description
12.5" long generic tin Marx moving truck toy that has been hand-painted as a prototype, early 1960s. Sides of truck box have been hand-painted, featuring various Hanna-Barbera characters, including Huckleberry Hound (who the truck was named for), Yogi Bear and Boo Boo, Pixie and Dixie as well as Mr. Jinks. Sides features different scenes (a circus parade and a picnic) and character names appear at top of images w/"Huckleberry Hauler" name at bottom in Letraset Dry Transfer lettering, which shows scattered wear. Cab doors have cut-out (from vintage comic books as was a common time and money saving technique during production development) and applied portraits of Mr. Jinks and Yogi Bear. Top of cab originally had Huckleberry Hound cut-out, but this is now missing, w/just some glue residue remaining. Tires are marked "Louis Marx And Company." Open back w/o doors as made. Prototype shows scattered wear in the form of paint nicks/scratches and aforementioned letter flaking. Fine overall. A truly one-of-a-kind item for the Hanna-Barbera collector.
