Item Description
11-3/8x16.5" artboard w/pen and ink original art by José Luis García-López, whose long-running relationship w/DC Comics helped shape the style of the publishing company's comic books during the 1980s. During his exclusive contract w/DC, he was responsible for penciling the style guides used by the company to provide official artwork for merchandise licenses around the world. Art is for page 5 of "Tales Of The Green Lantern Corps" Annual #3, published by DC Aug. 1987. Page features six panels, and is from the "Worship" storyline by Kurt Busiek. Art was inked by Joe Rubinstein and features Green Lantern of Sector 1915 Wissen (who made his first appearance in this issue) feeling unworthy of being a Green Lantern, going so far as to toss his ring away in anger before one of his people approach to summon him back to the city. Wissen appears in every panel, w/third panel featuring large close-up of his Green Lantern ring. Top margin has inked title, issue/page numbers and month of publication. DC copyright stamp on back. Top margin has been trimmed, but this does not affect art in any way. Margin have some scattered production notations as well as aged printer's tape. Art remains clean and Exc. Nice art from the first appearance of this Green Lantern, in the hand of one of his co-creators.
