Item Description
1.5" dia. cello w/The Spirit portrait image and "Extra... 16 Page Comic Book - Star Journal - Every Sunday" text. c. 1942. One of two different red/white buttons issued at this time (see following item); each was issued for a different paper and used a totally different image of The Spirit. Typical trace aging to metal reverse but front remains totally bright, glossy and NM for display. This and the "New Minneapolis Morning Tribune" newspaper promotional button are the only two known early vintage buttons for this historic character. Both are rare as they were distributed in small quantities only in a single city.
