Item Description
Lot of 1940s Quaker Oats premiums featuring characters from the popular "Terry And The Pirates" comic strips. 4.5x6.5" mailing envelope w/handwritten recipient name/address contains 3.75x6" unused sheet of three perforated full color character stamps of Pat Ryan, Burma and Terry w/art by Milton Caniff. Text on top margin of sheet notes these were sent out to entrants in bicycle contest and also mentions the radio program. Envelope is lightly aged but VF. Stamp sheet has one 5/8" loose perforation but is o/w NM. 8-1/8x10.25" envelope w/typed recipient name/address label contains full set of six 7-1/8x9-1/8" paper pictures, each w/Caniff art. Envelope shows scattered mailing wear and is complete w/original cardboard insert. Fine/VF. Characters are - Terry, Dragon Lady, Burma, Pat Ryan, Phil Corkin and Connie. NM. 3.25x5.5" postcard w/Caniff art notes postcard was sent to acknowledge entry in the Quaker Oats Co. "Sparkies Jingle Contest." Reverse has postmark and typed name/address. Postcard has even aging and some scattered corner tip wear w/thin streak of tape residue at top. Fine.
