Item Description
Pair of mailer boxes w/"Ore Detector Box Q" return address contained 2.5x3-3/8x1.75" deep hard plastic battery-operated metal detector that was issued as a Quaker premium in 1952. Boxes have typed recipient name/address and shows expected mailing wear. Additional label on back of one box w/battery instructions. Other box does not have this label and mailing label has moisture spotting. Boxes are Fine overall. Premiums are marked on the dials "Sgt. Preston Ore Detector." Top center has foil sticker of each has Sgt. Preston and Yukon King portrait plus additional foil sticker around the working compass w/the alphabet. Gauges at top beneath clear plastic windows. Battery is supposed to move gauge needle when unit is near metal, but as is typical these do not work as intended. Both still displays Exc. Comes w/both instruction sheets w/order blank for "Deed To 1 Square Inch Of Klondike Land." Both are folded as issued and one has .75" stain w/sliver of tape at center. VG to Fine. A scarce premium but red color variety is very rare, and this is the only example we've offered in our 52 years. Red version and box w/o battery label are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
