Item Description
Lot consists of prize issued from Quaker Oats Co. dog-naming contest (see contest poster, previous item) in 1950. 8.5x11" letter notes recipient won one of the fourth place prizes - a leather belt w/shoulder strap like Sgt. Preston's. Text also asks to verify person's correct mailing address. Top third of sheet is separated at fold line and letter shows obvious aging. Fair/Good. 3.25x5.5x2" deep mailing box w/illustrated label featuring Preston portrait and typed recipient name/address label. Box shows expected wear from mailing w/label evenly aged w/scattered age spotting and edge wear. Box remains tight and Fine. Belt is 32" long w/repeated image of Preston and dog sled w/his name surrounded by a rope. 30.5" shoulder strap is matching brown leather but w/o design printed on it. Belt and strap shows little to no wear and appears unused. Exc. Very rare and the only complete example w/the letter we know of. These are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
