Item Description
17x22" glossy paper poster released by Timely Comics (pre-cursor to Marvel Comics) and Kable News in 1941 to promote "The Human Torch" #3 (published Spring 1941). Poster features image of the comic cover by Alex Schomburg, showing the Golden Age Human Torch and his sidekick Toro as well as the Sub-Mariner. Large specialty art image of Human Torch at upper left, w/promotional text word balloon about this series. Poster was folded into quarters as issued to newsstand dealers/wholesalers, fold lines show scattered wear w/archival tape repair to 5.5" split at left. Penciled date at upper left. Scattered margin wear w/some small chips and left/right margins have approx. 1" strip of moisture staining along margins which could be matted out for display. Good/VG. Very rare, this is the only known example. A must have rarity for Golden Age Timely collectors.
