Item Description
9.75" long die-cut balsa wood/cardboard rocketship w/metal weight in front for flying. Printed balsa wood shows Dick Tracy piloting rocketship w/Chief Brandon, Pat Patton, Dick Tracy Junior and his dog Scottie at windows on each side. One side reads "Dick Tracy Space Ship" and the other reads "Follow Dick Tracy Every Day In Chicago Tribune." Instructions are printed inside one tail fin. Some lt. corrosion to metal parts w/some faint staining. Fine. Comes w/original plain envelope and wooden launcher. Similar premium rocketships were made for Buck Rogers and Speed Gibson. There is also another Dick Tracy variety that is named "Rocket Gyro X-3" that came w/illustrated envelope as issued as a gas station premium. The example offered here is a newspaper premium. Both varieties are rare, but this is the first example of this variety we've offered in our 52 years and it is unlisted in The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake. A true Dick Tracy rarity.
