Item Description
2-1/8" dia. cello pinback w/o maker's name from the earliest days of the West Coast Mickey Mouse Movie Clubs, which began in 1930. Clubs elected officers from "Chief Mickey Mouse" on down and this button denotes the rank of "Courier." This design was used very briefly as due to the growing popularity of the clubs, Walt Disney Studios quickly stepped in and revised these buttons, substituting the more classic pie-eye Mickey Mouse image (see items #1346-1346). Pin hole through cello and metal backing, just below Mickey's tail. This is surrounded by five other pin holes through the cello. Scattered rim spotting and indents to metal backing, which has some scattered oxidation. VG overall, but very rare and just the second we've seen in our 52 years.
