Item Description
"Foxy Grandpa" was a Sunday pages newspaper comic strip created by cartoonist Carl E. Schultze (drawing under the name of "Bunny") that began in 1900, running until 1918. The strip was quite popular, which led to several books and merchandise items being produced. Offered here are five pieces, all early 1900s. Lot includes two German bisque figures; 5.25" and 8.5" tall w/raised "Foxy Grandpa" name on front of base (some scattered aging/wear; VF to Exc.), 4.75" tall figural soap (which has obvious aging w/hairlines but remains structurally sound and VG), 11" tall printed cloth stuffed doll (which shows wear and is Fine) and high quality 9.5" dia. plate, w/scene depicting Foxy Grandpa bowling as his two grandsons look on. Underside has R. Briggs Co. hallmark. Exc. All are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA.
