Item Description
Lot of five, include four bisque items, all c. 1910. Each depicts baby Snookums, from George McManus's early comic strip "The Newlyweds," featuring elegant young couple and their spoiled baby. Lot includes 3-5/8x4.75x4.75" tall plaster statue w/incised base featuring both his name and that of "The Newlyweds" strip. Additional text includes " Why Haven't You A 'Little Snookums' In Your Home?" Few tiny flakes to top of Snookums hair and back of show. Fine. Rest are German bisque, including some by Schaefer Vader. Three of the four have incised "Snookums" name on fronts of bases and include two matching design figures in two different sizes. Scattered aging and lt. wear, VF overall. Another open-mouthed figure w/large body cavity has hairline crack running to corner of mouth around head to opposite side of mouth. This has two tiny surface flakes and neat glue repair. Good/VG and just comes along. Three are the actual examples shown in "The Official Price Guide To Pop Culture Memorabilia" by Ted Hake and comes with COA. An instant collection.
