Item Description
3.5" w/N.G. Slater on curl. During the summer of 1966 Meredith was shot by a gunman. After the attempt on his life other civil rights activists arrived to continue the march in Meredith's name including Dr. King and SNCC's Stokely Carmichael. It was at this march where Carmichael, after being arrested and released from jail, delivered his famous "Black Power" speech. This became a turning point in the civil rights movement w/SNCC's "Black Power" philosophy now competing for attention w/SCLC's "Freedom Now" non-violent philosophy. Moderate wear in reflected light. Exc. Scarce.
