Item Description
11x17" offset litho. on thin paper. Original first printing. Design "By: Ryan Loiselle" of the band Machine. Promoting a Jan 20, 1990 concert at "Legends" in Tacoma, WA. A ½" horizontal tear at top right just affecting the "M" in "Melvins" stabilized on reverse w/archival tape. A single pin hole in top r/l corners and another in the margin just left of the "R" in "Saturday." Damp stain affecting design at center and at top right. Otherwise handling wear and a few scattered and faint 'rain drops' at lower left. VG. It is thought that 50-75 of these posters were originally printed. Examples are pictured in the biography Come As You Are on p.56, in an issue of Playboy magazine as part of a feature on the band as well as the documentary films Soaked In Bleach and Montage Of Heck. Tacoma is an important city in the band's history, they performed some of their earliest shows there, and the gritty nature of the working-class city influenced the edginess of their sound helping define them from their Olympia and Seattle contemporaries. This show occurred at the beginning of 1990 seven months after the release of Bleach and despite being relatively early in their career it would ultimately be their final show in the city. An important artifact of the grunge era.
