Item Description
Oversized 20-7/8x44" thick cardboard sign that was displayed on the side of city buses during the Summer of 1969 to help promote the upcoming "Aquarian Exposition." Sign lists original Wallkill, NY location before the July venue change to Max Yasgur's dairy farm in Bethel, NY. Sign features Arnold Skolnick's classic design featuring guitar, hand and dove above "3 Days Of Peace & Music" text. Poster includes list of performers and various activities over the three-day period of the event held August 15-17, 1969 including - Creedence Clearwater Revival; Grateful Dead; Janis Joplin; Jefferson Airplane; Santana; The Who; Crosby, Stills & Nash; Jimi Hendrix and others. Sign has scattered tack holes along margins and 1" pieces off top corners. Left margin has two 1/8" to .25" dents and sign is evenly aged. Heavy diagonal 30" crease across right side w/smaller 6" crease branching off towards bottom of sign. Additional creases at corners. 3.5" scuff across head of guitar image and some scattered tiny flakes in this area. Multiple scuffs on back. Sign is Good/VG overall. As designed for outdoor use, not many of these bus signs have survived, making this a much rarer piece than the iconic Woodstock poster.
