Item Description
2.5x5.75" on thin blank back paper. Satirical note attacking Vice President Martin Van Buren issued during the Hard Times era. Dated "May 1, 1834" w/additional text of note including "Experimental Currency" and "To Counterfeit Is Death!". Bearing facsimile signatures of Jacksonian Journalist Amos Kendall as "Cashier" and Andrew Jackson "Pres." Faint age toning, minor handling and light edge wear. VF. We've encountered roughly half a dozen similar notes but this is the first example of this particular design and is the highest dollar amount known to us.
