Item Description
2.25x5.75" cardstock tag w/fabric cord at top. Portrait of Jones w/text below "In Memory Of Labor's Dead Seattle, May 30th, 1914." Horizontal bends most notably a crease that just breaks the surface paper affecting the portrait. Uneven edges indicate this has likely been trimmed. Technically Good but displays VG. The only example we've seen in 53 years. An important & rare labor badge. A little over a month after witnessing the Ludlow Massacre, Jones took part in this major Labor Memorial parade in Seattle to mourn the losses and spread news of the terrible scenes from Colorado. Speaking of mine owner John D. Rockefeller Jr. to the Seattle Times Jones said "He Hasn't Even A Polite Excuse For An Old Woman. I Might Have Known Though That The Man Who Would Permit His Gunmen To Shoot Down Women And Boil Babies In Oil Wouldn't Want To Hear The Miners Side."
