Item Description
"The Killer Shrews" and "The Giant Gila Monster" are 1959 creature features that were filmed back-to-back outside of Dallas, TX. The films were released as a double bill (as many such films were then) and offered here is the original art for a newspaper ad for one such double bill. 10.75x13-7/8" artboard has pen and ink original art in area measuring approx. 4.5x8". Left side is dominated by head of large Killer Shrew towering over female victim while right side features Giant Gila Monster reaching towards fleeing mob, a crushed hot rod in his hand. Art is surrounded by pencil printing notations and lower right has handwritten "Please Rush! Book As Soon As Possible" note. Pin holes at top corners w/scattered dust soiling and slight warp to artboard, but art remains clean and Exc. and would make for nice framed display. One-of-a-kind piece for these 1950s classics. Comes w/glossy paper proof for California newspaper ad showing completed ad w/titles, showing information and other text.
