Item Description
Pair of 1930s lined tablets. 5-3/8x8.75" tablet featuring Mickey Mouse playing saxophone as metronome ticks is ©1930. Tablets from this series (issued w/many different covers) are the first domestic and most likely first worldwide pieces of licensed Mickey Mouse merchandise produced, the deal to produce these tablets was been secured in 1929. Evenly aged w/some corner tip wear, but tablet is unused. Archival tape repair to 5/8" tears on lower left of front cover. Fine overall. 8x10" tablet features cover image of Mickey and Minnie Mouse holding "Mickey Mouse Pencil Table" sign. Powers Paper Co. Child's name appears in black pencil at top binding. Tablet shows some wear from use and first few pages have been removed. Cover has 3/8" sliver of masking tape by Mickey image. Pages have even dark aging. VG. Early and scarce Mickey Mouse merchandise.
