Item Description
4x7" single-sided promotional card issued by New York, NY radio station WOR 710. Card features full body image of Superman w/hands on hips. Extensive text indirectly references World War II and notes "Recently World Events Have Been Happening Which Warrant Extended News Broadcasts - Especially When That Information Is Of Vital Concern To All Americans!" Card then goes on to reassure listeners that "Your Radio Favorites - Uncle Don, Chick Carter, Tom Mix, And Superman - All Remain Part Of Our Weekday Afternoon Schedule." Card dates to 1943-1945, years when "Chick Carter" was being broadcast. Card also notes "Superman" newspaper comic strip. This is a Mutual file copy as unused reverse has "File - Mutual" stamp (which slightly bleeds through onto front). Bottom margin has thin 3" strip of staining. VF. One of the rarest WOR promotional cards, our last example selling for $632.
