Item Description
2-11/16" tall by Meek Co. Coshocton, Ohio. Text side names Merchant Tailors in Alexandria, Minn. while opposite side has wonderful depiction of full figure nude woman on a rock at water's edge with rays of light emanating from her raised hands. Image is perhaps meant to represent Amphitrite the Greek goddess queen of the sea and wife of Poseidon. Aside from the rarity of a c. 1915  nude on a cello wrapped match safe, when the top lid is raised there is a second metal cover with celluloid instruction panel reading "If unable to open, call on Colbjornsen & Wegener, Alexandria, Minn. for the hidden spring". The push button spring is located on the narrow side panel beneath the cello covering. When pushed the second cover flies open granting access to the matches. Light wear. Mechanism works perfectly.
