Item Description
29x29.5" frame w/28x28.25" silk flag. Threads Of History plate #134 on page 102. Military portrait of "Gen. W. H. Harrison" framed by a laurel wreath w/text accented by 13 stars. Canton features 13 stars in a medallion pattern w/12 encircling a large center star. Horizontal separations and losses affecting portrait w/brown fabric behind portrait for display. Also scattered holes, edge losses and faint staining. Good. Not examined out of frame. The fragile fabric combined w/the potential ravages of its nearly 180 years of life make this a scarce survivor. A good candidate for professional conservation. Harrison flags are the earliest campaign flags and portrait flags are highly coveted by collectors.
