Item Description
c. 1950s. 8x8x3.25" deep cardboard box w/die-cut insert is covered in paper decorated w/various Disney character images. Box contains Melmac type set made in Spain by "I.P.T. Barcelona" (Industrias Plasticas Trilla) and even comes w/a period invoice from the company which has mention of WD Productions. Underside of box lid has elastic band to hold plate/bowl. Box shows moderate aging/wear w/one lid side panel missing. VG. Set consists of 7.75" dia. plate/bowl (image online), 3.5" tall cup, 6.75' long fork and spoon and napkin ring. Each has been hand-painted w/Donald Duck images, w/bowl featuring three images (one two-eyed Donald Duck w/drum) while rest features one-eyed Donald images (cup and napkin ring have some additional non-Disney images that match bowl). Majority of images have hand-painted Disney copyright. Backside of bowl has some age spotting but o/w set appears unused and Exc. Rare and first we've seen in our 53 years.
