Those initials stand for Student Peace Union and other organizers of the event were Students For A Democratic Society (SDS) and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee (SNCC). About 2,000 protestors were expected but turn-out estimates ranged from 15,000 to 25,000. NM displaying Mint.
