Item Description
"Buffalo Bill's Wild West" shows saw immense success, w/nearly continuous touring taking place from 1872 to 1913. Unfortunately the show was seized by Denver businessman Harry Tammen in 1913 after Buffalo Bill Cody fell behind on payments used for some bad investments. When Cody's show came to Denver, Tammen forced him to join the Sells Floto Circus (which Tammen owned). During the 1914-1915 seasons, the circus featured Buffalo Bill Cody. Cody passed away Jan. 10, 1917. Offered here is a 27x41" stone litho poster printed by Erie Litho. & Pg. Co. in 1926, nearly 10 years after Cody's death. Poster features great image of Cody on horseback in his full Western attire. Poster has been linen-mounted and has had some scattered restoration to borders and 2x4" area w/hairline tears above horse's ears, 3.5" tear across the letter A in "Buffalo" as well as 3" tears to right of "Wild." Top right margin has .75" wide by 1.25" deep V-shaped area filled in. Poster remains bright and clean and displays VF as restored and linen-mounted. Scarce.
