Item Description
The "Little Orphan Annie" radio serial starring Shirley Bell captivated fans on NBC from 1931-1942. The show was sponsored by Ovaltine 1931-1940 and then by Quaker cereals 1941-1942. Beginning in 1935, Ovaltine offered premium brass badges w/a decoding feature so that club members could decode secret numerical messages broadcasted during the radio program. Offered here is complete set of six decoders, each featuring "R.O.A." (Radio Orphan Annie) initials and a year. Most include "S.S." (Secret Society) initials as well. Sizes range from 1.25" to 2" dia. and span 1935 through 1940. The 1936 badge has slide-off secret compartment on back. Some traces of luster wear and aging but a nice bright set overall. VF to NM. An instant complete collection.
