Item Description
This item came into the premium hobby in the late 1970s via a man who worked for Robbins Co. of Attleboro, MA, famed for producing various premiums. Offered here is an approx. 1/8" thick piece of lead, measuring 1.5x1.75". It came from the Robbins factory and was produced by striking the die on a lead sheet so the designs could be seen as flawless before production began on the 1935 "Radio Orphan Annie's Secret Society" decoders, the very first issued Orphan Annie decoder. Front of the piece has raised image in lead of the two inner wheels of the decoder. In the finished piece (see set, item #758) there was an outer rim bearing a circle of letters and the concept was to match this inner wheel w/a circle of numbers in order to decode numeric messages given on the ."Little Orphan Annie" radio show. Back of the piece has a hand scratched production number "M5627." One of a kind. Exc. Rare and a must have item for even the most advanced Little Orphan Annie or premium collector.
