Item Description
8.75x10-7/8" cardstock sign that was applied to house under quarantine due to smallpox during the 1890s. Full text includes "Small Pox! All Persons Are Forbid Entering This House Until The Notice Shall Be Removed By The Health Officer." Lower right has been signed in black ink by Health Officer and sign has handwritten "Sand Lake" locale noted. Sign shows scattered handling wear w/corner creases at upper right and corner tip off lower right. Bottom center has area of staining to margin. Scattered dust soiling. Back has spot of surface paper lifting. VG/Fine overall.
