Large 32x44" single-sided heavy paper sign for 1939 promotion that saw 50 free 19" long China Clipper Models (w/a 22" wingspan) handed out to children attending a special theater matinee where they could also obtain "A 5"x8" Action Picture Of The China Clipper." China Clipper promotion was courtesy of Pan American Airways, the China Clipper being the first of three Martin M-130 four-engine flying boats built for use as the first commercial transpacific airmail service from San Francisco to Manila. Marquee area at bottom remains unused. Sign has been folded as issued w/some wear along fold lines/margins and scattered aging. Fine/VF. Pair of 11.25x11.5" envelopes that once held premium China Clipper models, both having promotional image/text as well as Kraft Sweet Chocolate Flavored Malted Milk advertising imprint. Backs have additional aviation information and instructions. One has 2.75" tear at top center and both show some margin wear and scattered dust soiling. VG to Fine overall. Lot also includes die-cut can paper that was wrapped around can of National Dairy's Chocolate Flavored Malted Milk. Paper features China Clipper image and premium offer. Exc.
